For the 2026–27 academic year, UK universities are offering 12 prestigious postgraduate GREAT Scholarships across a wide range of subjects exclusively for students from India. Each scholarship provides a minimum of £10,000 towards tuition fees for a one-year postgraduate programme.

These scholarships are jointly funded by the UK Government’s GREAT Britain Campaign and the British Council, in partnership with leading UK higher education institutions.

Eligibility Criteria – Who Can Apply?

A GREAT Scholarship applicant must:

•      Be a citizen of India

•      Hold an undergraduate degree, demonstrate strong motivation, and show interest in the chosen subject area

•      Meet the English language requirements of the selected UK university

•      Show commitment to engaging with the UK through academic and personal development

•      Be willing to attend a UK-based networking event for GREAT scholars to share study experiences

•      Agree to stay in touch with the British Council and the host university, acting as an ambassador for the GREAT Scholarships

•      As an alumnus, be open to occasionally sharing experiences with future applicants interested in studying in the UK

GREAT Scholarship Application Process

1.       Visit the university list above and review scholarship details on the official university websites.

2.       Apply for individual GREAT Scholarships by following the instructions provided on each university’s scholarship page.

3.       Application deadlines vary by institution, so students should carefully check each university’s deadline.

4.       Successful applicants will be notified directly by the respective universities.

5.       Scholarship funds will be released by the universities after student registration.
