Good news for NZ student dependents!
If your partner is studying a level 7 or 8 qualification listed on the Green List, you can now apply for an open work visa.
Immigration New Zealand (INZ) has updated the Green List to include important Bachelor's degrees and Bachelor Honours qualifications leading to registration in certain professions. Instead of needing New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) qualifications, these professions require registration.
This means that students on visas pursuing these registration-based qualifications can now support their partner's application for a Partner of a Student Work Visa (Student Dependent Visa).
If you qualify as a partner, your school-aged children can be treated as domestic students. They can apply for a Dependent Child Student Visa, which means they won't have to pay tuition fees to attend school. This policy is currently available to anyone with a Partner of a Student Work Visa.
